The Westgate Cross-Country season ended with, as has been the custom these the past few years, banners coming home. This season, the JV girls managed to bring home the zone banner, holding off even the AAAA teams in our zone. While victory would elude them in the provincials – finishing just 12 points out of the medals – the Varsity girls came home with the provincial title, while the Varsity boys finished second. This season featured a number of fantastic moments: whether it was Christian passing Thomas, or Signy’s amazing sprint up the hill, both in zones, AnnChristin and Amy’s dominance in many races, Xander out of sight all the time, Mikah running with a broken arm, Fish grabbing the seven spot (as usual, like a boss), or Mr. Durksen inspiring everyone with his version of “Wrecking Ball,” (you’re welcome, Paul), there was something for everyone.
