Outdoor experiential learning is one of the defining characteristics of Westgate’s approach to holistic education. We want to foster an appreciation for creation and nature in students, while equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully and safely navigate age appropriate activities. During Alternative Education Week, grade 7 students go to Bird’s Hill Park. They practice cooking on stoves, traveling as a group on bikes, and setting up tents. This is an important time for students to continue to build friendships and leadership skills.
