Tessa has always loved working with children and youth. Her passion for learning and adventure has taken her around the world—she’s taught conflict resolution in Jamaica, worked with refugee communities in the U.S., and travelled with students through Western Canada and South Africa. She holds a BA in Conflict Transformation from CMU, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor, and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology. She is also a certified counsellor and is nearly finished her training as a play therapist. Prior to coming to Westgate, Tessa led CMU’s Outtatown program, taught and school counselled in the Interlake and was a church leader for a decade. At Westgate, Tessa brings together her love of teaching, travel, and caring for young people. Outside of school, she keeps busy with her four young children and her private counselling. Her work continues to be shaped by her commitment to community, compassion, and lifelong learning.
