Tessa was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and spent her early years living in Saskatchewan and Ontario before settling in the Wolseley neighbourhood of Winnipeg. Tessa has always loved travelling and being with young people. While studying at Canadian Mennonite University she completed her first practicum at Jubilee Partners (Georgia) working with refugees, and her second practicum as an MCC SALTer in Jamaica teaching conflict resolution and peacemaking at a Bible College. Tessa graduated from CMU with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Conflict Transformation. After receiving her Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor, she taught elementary school. Her love of travel led her to becoming a site leader for CMU’s Outtatown Discipleship Program. Tessa then completed her Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology and began a career that she thinks is simply the best: school counsellor. For the last decade, Tessa’s has been raising her young family of four, co-leading the church she grew up in (Grain of Wheat Church-Community) and pursuing specialities within the field of counseling (child therapy, play therapy, attachment-based therapy, parent education and perinatal mental health). When not working, Tessa can be found chasing toddlers, drinking coffee, chatting with friends or doing her other job of online counseling.
