Sherisse grew up in Winkler, Manitoba and graduated from Garden Valley Collegiate. She moved to Winnipeg when she began attending Canadian Mennonite University in 2000. Sherisse graduated from CMU with a Bachelor of Arts (English Major) in 2003 and spent the next summer volunteering at Jubilee Partners in Georgia, teaching English to refugee families and helping out in the organic garden. Following graduation from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Education, Sherisse volunteered with MCC in Bangladesh, both in Dhaka and in several rural communities. From 2006 to 2022, Sherisse worked at Winnipeg Mennonite Elementary School, starting as a grade 2 teacher, then teaching grade 8 for eight years, and finally taking on the role as Resource teacher and Head of Student Services. Her experience at WMEMS has been invaluable to her. Sherisse completed her Post-Baccalaureate in Inclusive Education at the University of Manitoba in 2019. Sherisse started teaching at Westgate in the fall of 2022 and is excited to be part of the Westgate community! She currently teaches grade 7 ELA and Math, and is a Resource teacher in Student Services. Sherisse really enjoys traveling and is grateful for the opportunities she has had to travel to Thailand, Guatemala, El Salvador, Burkina Faso, Kenya and many destinations in Europe. She enjoys hiking and camping, and hopes to go on a canoe trip with her two boys (ages 7 and 3) and her husband, Randall, next summer. Sherisse attends Faith Covenant Church with her family.
