Rebecca grew up in Charleswood in a multi-generational home, where she still lives with her parents, husband, and children. She graduated from Westgate, and continued her schooling at Canadian Mennonite Bible College where she got her Bachelor of Church Music. Rebecca went straight from CMBC to U of M where she graduated with her Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education. In 2002 Rebecca started teaching elementary music in the Seven Oaks School Division. After a few years of full time teaching Rebecca and the band House of Doc, took some years to pursue their dream and performed across the country and in Europe. Four albums and a bunch of tours later children came along and Rebecca started teaching pre-school music through the Community School of Music and the Arts. Rebecca has been a regular guest teacher at Westgate since 2022, and this year she starts her official role of Westgate teacher. She teaches Grade 7 Science and Social Studies, as well as Grade 9 Social Studies, and Grade 10 Geography. Outside of school she enjoys spending time with her community, friends, family and especially her husband Matthew and their two teenagers. She attends Charleswood Mennonite Church and helps lead the music in that congregation.
