Jarrett has been teaching at Westgate for more than a decade. He teaches Grade 10 Digital Film Making, Grade 10 Outdoor Education, Grade 11 and 12 Chemistry, and Grade 11 and 12 Physics. Jarrett is known amongst students for his love of the outdoors, cheesy Marsh and Mountain videos, and physics trebuchets, toboggans, and cardboard canoes. Jarrett grew up in Winnipeg and graduated from River East Collegiate. He immediately transferred into the integrated education program at the University of Winnipeg and graduated in the spring of 2008 (Fun Fact: He has a BA, majoring in theatre). Over the last ten years Jarrett has developed a unique approach to education and is inspired to share this with students and colleagues. When he is not in the classroom, you might find him involved in extra-curricular activities like volleyball, cross-country, one-act plays, sets production, stage managing, the senior drama, marsh and mountain, winter camping or ultimate. Jarrett is married to Amy Vanderhooft and is the happy father of two sons, Caleb and Noah and his favourite daughter, Mara. When he's not at 86 West Gate, Jarrett spends as much time as possible outside, but when forced to come in - he's busy playing lego, starting a new building project, or spending as much time in the kitchen as he can.
