Heidi grew up being on the move. As a child she moved almost every 2-3 years between Canada, Germany, and the United States. The last move brought her to Winnipeg, where she graduated from Westgate in 2004. After attending CMU for three years, majoring in Mathematics and living in the Netherlands for a year on a Mennonite work program, Heidi returned to Westgate to work as an Educational Assistant for a year. This sparked her interest in Education and she enrolled in the Education Program at U of W. Heidi’s initial teaching experience comes from teaching in the German Bilingual Program at Donwood Elementary, Princess Margaret School, and River East Collegiate and at Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute. In 2015 Heidi returned to Westgate to teach English, Math, and German. Heidi is currently the Vice-Principal and enjoys continuing to teach German. Heidi also enjoys packing up her gear for Westgate Marsh and Mountain trips, singing along to German pop songs, and joining the hustle and bustle of plays. Heidi attends First Mennonite Church and spends summers camping, sometimes traveling, and cooking with her partner Ross Brownlee.
