Gabrielle graduated from Westgate in 2008 as the first third generation Westgate graduate. Her interest in continued faith development led her to continue her studies at Canadian Mennonite University. Here she completed a Bachelor of Music in Senior Years Instrumental Education with a double minor in French and theology. During her high school and university years Gabrielle became increasingly interested in teaching and working with young people. She started worship leading and preaching at her home congregation and taught private piano lessons. She spent many summers at Camps with Meaning including a summer as Integration Coordinator at Camp Moose Lake and Bible Instructor at Camp Assiniboia. After graduating from CMU in 2013, Gabrielle did a three month Pastoral Internship at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Winkler. She graduated from U of M with a B.Ed in 2015 and then spent the summer in Olivet, France working on a post-bac course which included a five week practicum in the French School system. Gabrielle returned to spend the next five years teaching middle school music, choir, and band in French Immersion schools in LRSD before happily returning to Westgate, where she currently teaches choir, band, and German. Gabrielle is excited to combine her passions for faith formation and education at Westgate and to become involved in many co-curricular activities as Covid restrictions are lifted. Gabrielle loves travelling the world and adventuring outdoors. She is happy to have found a partner, Stephen, who enjoys travelling with her. When they are in Winnipeg, they spend much of their time on the disc golf course, visiting with their families, hanging out at her grandparents’ cottage, and playing board games. She also loves playing indoor and outdoor ultimate with her friends, playing piano, and tinkering with whatever new instrument she is gifted that Christmas.
